Australia!

This was probably the longest trip of my life - we left on a Friday and arrived here in Australia on a Monday morning just after midnight!  Needless to say, we were exhausted!  We flew into Brisbane, which is about an hour and a half away from where Taylor was on the Gold Coast, so we stayed overnight at a hotel by the airport and then got up the next morning to take the train.
We were so happy to see Taylor!  We hadn't seen her for four months, the longest she had ever been away from home.  Since this was "her town", she showed us around the city of Surfer's Paradise, showed us her favorite local beaches, gave us the campus tour at Bond University, and took us to one of the local wildlife sanctuaries.

Have you ever seen a vending machine for flip flops?!

Burleigh  Beach

I think I'm determined to get run over by a car here.  Good thing I'm not driving.. Even walking, it's hard to remember which way to look when crossing the road!  This sign says look left, but normally you have to look right, as they drive on the left side of the road here..

The Bond campus was beautiful - no wonder Taylor loved it!

We mastered the art of public transportation here - neither of us wanted to drive, so we relied on buses, trams, and Uber. It was actually pretty easy to get around!

Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

Stopped for lunch.  Wait, why are there beets on my burger?!  Taylor said it's pretty common to have "beet root" on burgers.   If it's not beets, it's pineapple!  Kind of odd, but not bad!

Koala Bears!

and kangaroos :)

Tomorrow we are off to the rainforest for a few days, I'll post pictures soon!
